Farewell to James Gandolfini
On Thursday, U.S. actor James Gandolfini († 51) is buried in New York. The star of the "Sopranos" series was 19 June died in Italy of a heart attack.
In the St. John's Cathedral in Manhattan colleagues, fans, friends and family said goodbye to Gandolfini, including actor Alec Baldwin (55) and Gandolfinis "Sopranos" co-star Edie Falco (49) and Joe Pantoliano (61).
Hollywood star Baldwin came with black tinted sunglasses and accompanied by his wife Hilaria Thomas. Baldwin and Gandolfini knew each other for years. They stood together on Broadway for "A Streetcar Named Desire" on stage.
At the New York theater of Americans of Italian descent had begun his career. In honor of the actor, the famous Broadway dimmed its lights on Wednesday and a large picture Gandolfinis was seen.
The first fans arrived just hours before the ceremony begins at the Cathedral. "We have been 4.30 clock this morning on his feet," said "Sopranos" fan Stephanie Solana. On Wednesday evening had proved in a private funeral ceremony in Park Ridge, New Jersey, the actor last respects to family members and friends Gandolfinis.
Gandolfini died on 19 June when he was on vacation with his son in Rome. Recently the actor in the movies "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" and "Zero Dark Thirty" had participated.
